Dr. Shalini Mohan, BDS, DMD, FICOI
I have always been fascinated by medicine and knew from an early age that I wanted a career in healthcare. I also loved working with my hands, and dentistry offered the perfect combination of science, artistry, and meaningful relationships with patients. It gave me the opportunity to improve people’s health while making a lasting difference in their confidence and quality of life.
My dental journey began in India, where I earned my Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree in 1998. After moving to the United States to join my husband, I was determined to continue my passion for dentistry. I returned to dental school and earned my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2004.
In July 2004, I began practicing at what is now Downtown Dental & Implants of Oswego, and I’ve had the privilege of serving the Fox Valley community ever since. More than 22 years later, one of the greatest joys of my career is caring for multiple generations of families. Many of my patients have trusted me with their dental care for decades, and I am truly grateful for the relationships we’ve built together.
I believe my patients deserve the very best that dentistry has to offer. That’s why I am passionate about continuing education and regularly pursue advanced training to stay at the forefront of modern dentistry. Our office has invested in leading-edge technology, including CEREC CAD/CAM same-day crown technology, digital intraoral scanners, a 3D printer, digital X-rays, and CBCT imaging for guided implant planning and placement.
I am proud to be a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and enjoy helping patients with dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, full-mouth rehabilitation, and oral appliance therapy for sleep apnea.
Our office has been honored to be voted Best Dentist in Kendall County for multiple consecutive years. I share that recognition with our exceptional all-women team and our wonderful patients, whose trust and support have made this achievement possible.
Giving back to our community has always been an important part of who I am. Every year, our team hosts Give a Veteran a Smile, providing complimentary dental care to local veterans, and we proudly support the Kendall County Food Pantry and other community organizations throughout the year.
Outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our son, who is in college, our daughter, who is a high school senior, and our beloved cat. As my children grow older, I cherish every opportunity we have together.

I chose a career in dentistry because it brings together everything I love which is science, artistry, working with my hands, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. There is nothing more rewarding to me than helping someone regain their confidence, improve their oral health, and leave the office smiling. Whether it’s relieving pain, restoring function, or creating a beautiful smile, I truly enjoy being part of each patient’s journey.
I earned my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine–Illinois, where I was honored to receive the Excellence in Patient Care Award. This award meant a great deal to me because it recognized something I value deeply which is treating every patient with compassion, respect, and individualized care.
My philosophy is simple; I treat every patient the way I would want to be treated, and the way I would want my own family members to be treated. I understand that visiting the dentist can be stressful, so I strive to create a calm, welcoming environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, expressing concerns, and actively participating in your treatment decisions. My goal is for every patient to leave feeling informed, cared for, and confident in their smile.
One of the things I love most about dentistry is that there is always something new to learn. I am committed to lifelong education and continually pursue advanced training so I can provide my patients with the highest quality care. I have completed extensive continuing education in dental implant treatment and clear aligner orthodontic therapy, and I am always looking for opportunities to expand my knowledge and skills. I believe my patients deserve the most current, evidence-based treatment options available.
I am proud to practice in an office that shares my commitment to excellence through advanced technology, continuing education, and exceptional patient care. By combining modern technology with personalized treatment planning, I am able to provide care that is precise, comfortable, and tailored to each patient’s unique needs and goals.

Outside of dentistry, I enjoy living a healthy and active lifestyle. I love cooking, staying active, and learning more about health and wellness. I believe that overall health and oral health go hand in hand, and I enjoy helping my patients achieve smiles that are not only beautiful, but healthy for years to come.
